Finally got a new cell phone

I hate spending so much money on cell phones that they become a necessity, and decided the best solution is to have one only for emergencies. I got one that you need to buy a card for in order to get additional minutes.

Anyone have experience with TracFone as a cellular provider? I went with that one as it was the least expensive of the buy-upfront phones. I saw some not very good reviews about it, but it seems like it will suit my needs, and not a dime more.

My mom is the one who will most likely want to call me on it, but only when she can't find me. :) She took a fit about a month ago when I was out for longer than I expected, and couldn't call her. She thought I was in the hospital or someplace. Since then, I've had to assure her when I went out that I wouldn't be calling her for awhile. Now, at least, she can try the cell phone to find me.

Anyone else have a mother like that? I was always good about letting her know where I was, unlike my sister who often doesn't talk with her several days in a row, and my mother worries about her, since she's the "black sheep" in the family. They're both in California and I'm in Massachusetts, so it doesn't make sense that I'm the good child! :)
