8. Yes
Up in Flag... I thought it would let up by now, the weather radar shows lots of clouds coming from the south, but only on the edge. Must be staying straight north.

:hi: down in Oak Creek.

9. I Drove Through Flagstaff Once
It was January '76, and I was taking the southerly route of I-40 on my way to Oregon - trying to avoid severe weather I feared encountering on a more northerly route. I had been driving for two days through semi- and real-desert when I caught a glimpse of snowpeaked caps in the distance, hovering like mirages above the desert floor, their bases obscured by haze. As I neared Flagstaff a pine forest sprouted from the desert, adding to the surrealism. Snowflakes began falling as I neared the city limit, but I took a detour into town anyway. I had been considering a route northward from Flagstaff, into Utah then Idaho, picking up I-80 & approaching Portland from the east.

Not more than ten miles outside Flagstaff, I decided to get gas before heading back into the desert. I stopped at a clapboard filling station, but the door was locked & I could hear Navajo chanting from the rear of the building - somewhere out of sight. I got spooked, turned around, went back into Flagstaff, filled up & continued west on I-40.

I took a route across the Mojave desert later that night, wondering how my trip would have turned out if I had continued on that highway north out of Flagstaff.

10. Snow's taper off in Flag
and it did snow some in the Village of Oak Creek..
Why'd you get spooked by native music? Did ya think they'd come out and get ya? ;-) I wonder if a lot of Americans are spooked by natives.. I mean, why? It was the native people who were decimated by the Americans, not the other way around.

14. No Need to Get Snotty
I didn't mean to imply that I believed 'the injuns were gonna get me.' It was the isolation that had me spooked. I'd been driving by myself for three days across some of the most empty space I'd ever seen, and I didn't want to end up stranded or run out of gas. It's the little things like this that piss me off and make me wish I had just kept my experiences to myself!

15. Sorry, I didn't think I was being snooty..
But I observe that some Americans get spooked if they hear native music, and a bunch of 'skins' around, and if there are no other white people. But I don't mean to put you on the spot. I just don't understand why a lot of people feel threatened.. but then I DO understand that the US government promoted this type of fear, and they did concerning African Americans..

11. How much snow does Flagstaff get per year?
I drove through and stayed in Flagstaff a few times in 2002 and 2003. I love that place.

16. Snow Bowl opened up a few weeks ago
Last year they barely opened up at all for skiiing.. We've been in a drought here in Az for several years.. and a lot of trees have been dying off, it's really sad.
But to answer your question, I don't really know what the average is per year.. Sorry, I'm not good with stats like that, but it's definitely getting more this year, so far, than it has in quite some time...

18. Not tonight, but tomorrow afternoon!
There is 8 inches now on the ground... and maybe more tomorrow.

And I have to be at the playhouse tomorrow no matter what. We had to do the show tonight without the actor with the biggest part. His part was voiced over... somehow it turned out okay, since he narrates more than interacts with the characters.
