I Switched to Linux!!!

can anyone beat that copycat ;). Earlier today I downloaded, burned, and installed Ubuntu, and it kicks ass, came with Firefox, a shitload of utilities and programs, like OpenOffice, and best of all, easy as cake to setup. Fuck Micro$oft and the horse they rode in on. BTW: Even got it networked to the other PCs in the house, even though they run Windows XP.

.. my sister gave me her ancient PC (Pentium I anyone?), and I've been meaning to install linux on that one as well. Primarily to have it run an IRC client & Mail client, so I could use that even if I was tied up in a game somehow.

isn't corrupted. Make sure you have a burner though, because otherwise they are mostly useless. Of course, with a broadband connection through your ethernet card, you could do a net install of Debian, my version is just a variant thereof, though straight Debian is for experts usually, though you may get lucky.

ON EDIT: I realized this is rather cryptic, OK, the distro I use only needs, absolutely, ONE FILE, the ISO, it is an image of a bootable CD, with a CD burner you have to burn the file as an IMAGE, NOT simply copying it onto a CD. Use Nero or some other program, make sure to finalize the CD and it is set at Disk-at-Once. I will say that the size you said sounds accurate. Hope that helps.

Congrats. I'd use Linux myself, but as an Apple evangelist, I use another Unix variant called OS X. I'm always happy to hear when people drop M$. If I ever purchased an Intel machine, it would run Linux. Truly, one can live without M$.
