Poll question: What's The Age Difference Between You And Your Significant Other?
Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 10:08 AM by arwalden
(Or, if you're single: change the question to read "your most recent significant other".)

I haven't had much luck with relationship where the age difference was more than 10 years. I've been involved on both ends of that equation... as the older partner, and as the younger partner. Perhaps it was some personal failing on my part, but both times it was clear to me that the age differences also contributed greatly to the demise of the relationship.

I know that some people in May-September relationships can make it work just fine. What's your experience been?

8. You too?
14 years (13 married) and it's over except for the formality now of filing. Mine was almost 10 years older than me. I currently have an interest in someone who is about 7&1/2 years older.

I guess I like the older dudes. :7

10. You know...one of these days Micheal is gonna post under your name
and start a thread about the depth and breadth of Milan Kundera's characters and their moral dilemmas, and you'll come back and post and people will start asking you if Ludvik was intentionally or accidentally controversial and you will say :wtf:????

6. 4 Years...
She's 4 years older... most of my closest relationships have been about 4 years older or younger than me. Ironically, before I knew I was gay, the men I dated were more than 20 years older... never worked out... go figure :)

How ya doin, Allen? :hi:

12. I am 38 days older than MrG, and you can bet he makes a giant
deal out of it. Especially because we applied for our marriage license right between our birthdays. So it says Bride's age: 26 Groom's age: 25. He's a goof, but whatever makes him feel good. ;)

16. We are just six months apart
He's older. In the past, all my SO's were at least 3 or 4 years older than I am and my two ex husbands were 6 and 11 years older respectively.

What I've noticed now is that we have so many of the same frames of reference, even very obscure things, that it makes it nice. We remember the same music, the same cartoons, the same commercials, etc.

So far it has worked very well.

I am 38, and my husband is 30. People mistake me for the younger one.

28. well duh
hey I still haven't got a date yet, gah but my crushes range from a year younger than me to two years older. so basically, I would date any where from a junior in HS(I am a Senior) to a Sophomore in college.

20. my wife type, SO, or what have you is just 20 years older. We met
8 years ago and immediately fell in love. I moved in with her from cross country after camping at a festival for 5 days and one month of phone calls.

My family flipped out (not because she's nearly the same age as my Mom), but because ever since I was very young I had always talked about this older redhead that was gonna be the love of my life. Yeah they sorta shit themselves when I brought home the woman that fit the many descriptions of my love, perfectly.

I still cant figure out how she puts up with me, I can barely stand me so Im in awe of anyone who spends this much time with me!!

27. lol that's funny :) my mom's 21 years younger than my dad
and they just celebrated their 25th anniversary- I guess both of these cases lend credence to the saying 'age is just a number' :) congrats
