Please tell me not to adopt this guy!
I know I probably should not.

But he's so cute. He's coming over for a visit tomorrow night and I know I won't want him to leave.

1. If you adopt him, let him grow some hair.
He'll freeze his little butt off this winter.

12. It is, but you get used to it.
After 20 years of having cats, we adopted a dog a couple of years ago. He is more trouble even than four cats, but it's worth it. We've only regretted it once or twice, and both times it was during our Christmas vacation two years ago, when we both had the flu and there was a foot of snow on the ground, but Max still had to be walked. Seriously, that's the only time I've thought, 'what the hell were we thinking?' -- when there was knee-deep snow and Max had to get out.

19. Is it a Chinese Crested?
I've always liked their looks. If you have qualms about adopting, perhaps you should wait. But it sure is a cutie pie!

20. You are correct.
They kinda look like tiny Shetland ponys. I always liked them.

18. If you really, really should not...
then you won't. Do take time to listen to that still small voice. Now may not be the right time. This may not be the right dog. Maybe you are just *almost* ready.

My suggestion would be that *if* you decide to take him be sure to get lots and lots of indestructable dog toys, and a crate that a little dog bed will fit inside for when you are gone from the house. You will enjoy your new addition much, much more if you get the right gear and talk with experienced dog owners at the very beginning. Don't wait until you have chewed shoes or wet feet (from unmentionable puddles inside the house) before you learn about setting appropriate boundaries with Fido.

Love *is* what it is all about and knowing how to help guide your new love toward the good behavior that you want will help a lot. Have fun!

:-)
