Best man stabs groom for making a pass at his girlfriend

The pair had been drinking pals and Wall was best man at Mr Gilbert's wedding in June.

After the ceremony the bride and groom took Wall and his then girlfriend back to Mr Gilbert's flat.

Mr Gilbert made a pass at Wall's girlfriend after the other two fell asleep, drunk, Hove Crown Court heard on Thursday.

A week later Mr Gilbert arrived drunk at Wall's home and the pair had an argument. Wall, ran to the kitchen and grabbed a bread knife and threatened Mr Gilbert, asking him to leave.

The pair got into a violent tussle, during which the knife was plunged into Mr Gilbert's thigh, severing a main artery.
