1. Thanks
I needed that. As a senior I am very worried about my future and the future of my children. DU does give a voice, sometimes I'm not sure if it is being heard.

2. The best way to be heard on DU is to add a "Kleeb" in your posts
Just kidding. We hear you loud and clear.

6. Did I miss something?
I don't understand the Kleeb. I posted something the other day and was told to ask Kleeb, did not understand this.

9. kleeb is the name of a DUer
who people started sticking his name in every post and making random posts about him. That was a fad that faded quickly.

3. All of us are worried about the future, seniors and young adults alike.
I worry about the future world my 2 year old niece will grow up to inherit.

4. you're very welcome
and you should be worried about the future, i certianly am. i think the key is to just keep plugging away, keep posting away. People will eventually take notice. DU is a very big place now, over 60,000, that's the size of a good size city. Sometimes you just have to stand at a street corner and stand on your soapbox and keep shouting until people take notice. Just don't give up, that's exactly what the Bush Admin wants, for the dems to erupt in chaos so the rational voices and the pleas for help get drowned out. Don't let yourself get drowned out, even if that means kicking your own threads back to the top. try also letters to the editor and writing your representatives.

5. Not so smart
but how do I kick my threads to the top? Are my threads my posts or is it the responses to the posts? I have a lot to learn here.

7. your threads are the ones you start
like your Sirius thread. but even if you did not start the thread and jsut posted in someone else's, just reply again to it and that'll automatically take it back to the top of the first page. even if you don't want to say anything substantial, simply replying with "kick" in the subject line is fine enough.

8. Stick around - it takes a while to get to know people. Someone with
more than 1000 posts said he felt like a newbie because he wasn't in on any inside jokes - well now he is! It takes a while is all. If yougive up on DU, I have no idea where you would go to find such knowlegeable, passionate, charasmatic people.

Only you can make that decision, but I hope you reconsider.

I'm still feeling my way around. I don't know many but I'm starting to recognize names and 'personalities'. I'm not very outgoing and I don't 'get it' sometimes either. hang in there n2Mark!

13. Was that me?
It could have been. I bet there's a lot of others like that, too. Just goes to show that even if you've been here for a year or two, you can still feel like a newbie. :hi:

14. No , it wasn't you. Wow. I'm sorry you feel that way sometimes
though. I have a completely different problem. I'm in tight with a handful of people and so I'm afraid that I'm too cliquish in my posts and that people will notice that. I try to say hi and acknowledge new people, but I really have trouble getting out of my comfort zone.

See, we all have our little issues. :hi:
