I have a couple and god DAMMIT do they piss me off. Especially because it's reeeeeeeeeeeeally rare for me to get even one pimple anymore these days.
Is there any way to get rid of them with plastic surgery?

They might be able to do something with laser, or there are injections of collagen or something similar to fill them in.

2. Check out the BBC website |
|
I think it was there that they had an article about a newish laser procedure. If I recall, it's call "non- ablative" (?), and it works actually slightly below the surface. Good results, and actually less harsh than surface laser.

3. Chemical peels or laser resurfacing will usually minimize surface scars. |
|
For the deeper ones, collagen injections will temporarily 'plump them up.'
I've thought about having this done, but I still smoke a little bit and I know damned well it would be wasted money on my face.
I'll tell you what's a bummer -- being over 40, starting to get wrinkles, and still having zits. And it seems like every time I find a product I like that works, the manufacturer reformulates it so it doesn't work anymore, or they just quit making it.

I have found something that works, though - I use Neutrogena's Pore Refining cream in the morning and Clear Pore treatment at night (that's got salicylic acid in it).
I wear only Bare Minerals foundation makeup, and it has made a tremendous difference for me.

and you might want to stock up -- the Clear Pore night stuff was one I used with great success for many years. Now, I can't find it anywhere. Neutrogena still lists it on their web site, but none of the stores around here carries it anymore, so maybe all I need to do is bug them about it, I don't know.

with some of my face stuff. Now, instead of driving to every store in the area, I just buy it on the internet and have a supply shipped every so often. It saves my sanity.

7. if it's discoloration TriLuma is a prescription cream that fades scars |
|
get it from a dermatologist. Over the counter Mederma is said to work, but obviously not as effectively as TriLuma. Also vitamin K creams (I think St. Ives makes one, and Peter Thomas Roth)
Otherwise, laser treatments to zap the discoloration or collagen plumping for depressions.

9. I do, and I hate it so much. |

I'll look up some of the stuff in this thread, because I really don't want to scare young men, LOL (I also have stretch marks, sigh). I'm about a decade older than you I think, and rarely get pimples, but those scars are still there! UGH!

13. About stretch marks (which are actually scars, too) |
|
You might look into Strivectin. The cream was developed to help fade stretch marks, then supposedly some people used it on their faces and found out it's really good on wrinkles, too. So, they created an eye cream. I bought the eye cream recently, but haven't noticed any difference yet. I can't vouch for it personally, but it might be worth checking out. I bought mine at Foley's (a high end department store, in case you've never heard of it), I don't know where else it might be available.

But use it sparingly because it can be greasy and *cause* breakouts. At least that has been my experience. Also, while it seems to greatly refine skin texture, I don't know how effective it would be on an acne scar. I would just go for the laser.
Just my .02

16. Have you been using the eye cream? |
|
It says that it's the same formula, just without the aromatic oils that might irritate the eye...I don't think I've been using it long enough to notice a difference, and I'm wondering if it's really as effective as their ads claim...

20. Bought the regular formula |
|
It has been lasting me forever, so I haven't had to restock yet. There is a tingly sensation when applied, but it has never bothered my skin.
As far as the results, my skin is firmer, *much* better hydrated, and it gets rid of the redness and irritation that come from the winter months. It also lessens the crinklies around the eyes, but some of the more severe stuff I'm not expecting to change.

|
In the end they really don't mean anything....
Had to deal with Acne and scares for 35 years and it didn't stop me from being loved or loving. Sure my teen years were angst ridden but whose aren't.....
I becamse at peace with all of this when I wnet to a movie and saw a gaint close-up of Robert Redford and he had tiny acne scars.....

18. Don't worry about it, they build character. |
|
That is my dad's favorite things to say for any shortcoming that I percieved in myself.
"So you're not smart enough for college, son. Don't worry about it. Being a working man builds character."
"So you don't have movie star looks, son. Don't worry about it. It builds character."
"So you're not hung like John Holmes. Don't worry about. Little peckers build character."
"So you're not rich. Don't worry about it. Living modestly builds character."
Dad always looks at the bright side. But I think his sayings are a little inaccurate, because according to him I should be one of the biggest characters on the planet, but I'm just a regular joe. ;)
