Teens on Taco Bell run save house from burning down |
|
http://greenbaypressgazette.com/news/archive/local_18914494.shtmlDE PERE — To teenagers, not much is a big deal. To this day, four De Pere High School seniors — Eric Smogoleski, 18; Nate Angell, 17; Jeff Allie, 18; and Steve Hermsen, 17 — don’t think their alerting a family that their house was on fire was a big deal.
(snip)
The four students had been driving along Ridgeway Drive en route from a run to Taco Bell back to a friend’s house, where they had spent the evening shooting pool. Angell was driving, with Allie in the front seat. As Angell’s Nissan whizzed by 800 Spooner Court, Hermsen caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a “little tiny circle of fire” outside the Strauss chimney, about 6 feet off the ground.
(snip)
Anne Strauss had been hosting a book club meeting when fire broke out near their chimney. Dean had been watching TV in another room.
Anne and several friends were discussing “Angry Women Eating Bon Bons” alongside a fire on Nov. 3, when the doorbell rang shortly before 10:30 p.m. Since the fire started on an outside wall, the occupants hadn’t the slightest idea anything was wrong. The couple’s two children were in bed.Wow, these kids are fucking heroes. Kudois to them.
