Anyone good at writing coverletters? |
|
I'm maiing in my application for State employment at a child Welfare office and I was hoping someone was good at writing coverletters so they could write me a coverletter. I'm really bad at that. Thanks. Duckie

1. I think it's better if you write it yourself |
|
Just do the following: (these can be a paragraph or two each)
Give a brief synopsis of your past history. Mention one or two major accomplishments.
State why you would like this employment and how it fits in with your career goals.
Reiterate that you look forward to being contacted. Make sure you give multiple phone numbers and times during the day when you can be contacted.
Run it through the spell checker and that should do it.

2. I write a lot of them. |
|
Are you responding to a specific ad or posting? This is very important. Your cover letter should be cued to that, using the same phrases and buzzwords, and referring to your resume for specifics. The resume is the big picture, the cover letter is the extreme close-up.
K.I.S.S. = Keep It Short and Sweet. Tell them why you'll be good, using their own words, and then wrap it up.
