I called in sick to work today
and I'm not really sick. I'm actually glad to be home on a dark gloomy rainy day, but do feel guilty because it is a Monday and there is always some extra work from over the weekend. But I just needed it today. There I confessed. I'm just plain bad.

Enjoy yourself--you deserve it.

5. ok, I'll not feel the guilt and shame
until tomorrow. Then I will go in and pretend I have a sore throat and try and sound a bit nasal.

16. If you smoke a really fat doobie you'll have a raspy voice
tomorrow. Or so I'm told.

3. welcome to the club
I quit my job and my last day was Friday. I don't feel guilty toward my workplace, I gave themm three weeks' notice.

I've been looking forward to a few days off to get my home office organized before I jump into some projects I have lined up.

I still feel weird, like I'm supposed to be somewhere.

It's really dark and dreary here, too.

6. I miss you already kat! But enjoy your freedom while you can
I can only imagine what that might be like. I'll be here until I drop dead (or they send me screaming out into the night, whichever comes first!).

7. I almost never call in sick to work
I have to be bleeding out my eyes and unable to walk in order to not go into work. Part of it is that my department is understaffed, so missing a day leaves me two or three days behind, but I confess that I seriously love my job. I work for a company with a lot of freaks (Phone Man and Crazy Office Mate are but two examples) and every day it's some new weirdness. HR is always a strange gig because you get to see the seamy underbelly of the company, but this particular company's underbelly is seamier than most, at least, as far as the employees go (the financials and ethics are much more above board, glad to say). So I feel like if I miss a day at work, not only am I screwing myself, but I'm depriving myself of the bird's eye view of humanity in all it's glory.

Am I sad or what?

17. Please!
It has absolutely nothing to do with ethics, I'm just trying to avoid having to work late most nights and plain old wanting to gawk at the freaks who work here.

It bugs the crap out of my partner when I work sick, which is bad, but it also annoys my Crazy Office Mate, which is good. I guess they equal each other that (don't tell my partner, of course).

9. I'd NEVER do such a thing
And if I did, I'd never admit it in a public message board. :tinfoilhat:

15. Sometimes you just need a mental health day.
That's what my mom used to call it when she would occasionally let us stay home from school when we were not actually sick.
