2. he kept yelling that Al never reported on anything "positive"
about Iraq.

I suppose when "positive" things happen, they will get reported.

16. Positive reports can be just as disturbing --
Like the touching story about the kid who was flown to Germany to get new prosthetic arms.

Like the occasional stories about soldiers handing out food to homeless orphans.

Yeah. Bring on the heartwarming, human interest stories.

4. I missed some of it but he came in swinging
Just demanding that Al talk about the good stuff happening in Iraq, not just the bad- you know basically report it in what Mark sees as a more "evenhanded" way. He also ragged on Al for dwelling on Abu Ghraib because it is old news according to him, even though Al argued he was bringing it up only because he was bringing up Gitmo which is new news. Bad answer in my opinion. Abu Ghraib may have broken a while back but it was never dealt with fully.

Mark also said we liberals would write the history of this war with a big pic of the guy on the box with the hood from Abu Graib and said that is a very narrow view. What a buttmunch.

The rest of it I missed. If anyone has more specifics or corrections to what I wrote, have at it.

28. "He also ragged on Al for dwelling on Abu Ghraib because it is old news.."
Old news?

As far as I know there is no statute of limitations on Torture cases in International Law.

As far as I can tell, there is a 10 year statute in US federal cases.

Pleas feel free to fact check this, since I don't have exact info at hand, just based on previous research.

Old News is when there is no chance of procecution, as far as I'm concerned. Even then...

3. NO.
He was just a bigger asshole than usual although he was spouting the usual shit: "Why can't you say anything positive about the war in Iraq?" "How do you think our troops feel about the things you are saying...blah, blah,blah..." I hate that motherfucker.

5. Agreed- He must go. His segment always pisses me off.
He's loathesome. But today I thought he was agressive. Usually he's very passive, very frustratingly whatever. Today he seemed like he thought he had..... a fucking mandate.

6. He definitely had a chip on his shoulder today.
It was interesting because he came of as though he'd discovered some talking points that he could really nail Franken with but, like I said, it was just the same old shit. Clueless.

12. The Implications Of His Question Were That 9 Out Of 10 News Items
out of Iraq should be positive. Actually, Bush has fucked things up so bad it's the reverse...9 out of 10 is crap..

It's a touchy business supporting the troops when you don't support the policies they are carrying out, but the separation must be made...

When the troops BUY IN to the policies, it's even tougher...

I think in a way it's disingenous to say that you support someone who's killing or torturing Iraqis for Christianity...but we are forced to say we do...or be called traitors...

11. Al got old very quickly during and since the elections
Enough with the shtick- same jokes, same talking points, he's like a politician on the stump who thinks he has a whole new audience every day who hasn't heard his shit before. It's gotten very humorless and tiresome. Where's the fresh?

14. I Think Al Is To Be Saluted...
He is doing yoman's work for us and although I don't agree with everything he says or think that everything he does is funny, he's miles ahead of anything else on the air during that timeframe.

I can't imagine how tough it is to do a show, day in and day out, considering the fascistic takeover of the company by the anti-democracy party...

13. Franken brings him to that point....
that ditthead may be a moron, but Franken DOES hit him with the same tired talking points.

rather than just going after Mark about Limbaugh's BS, Franken should reframe the debate and get Mark to rebut good progressive talking points.

I'm tired of playing defense.

15. this is he best LIMBAUGH QUOTE. Ask Mark about this one.....
"And now the liberals want to stop President Reagan from selling chemical warfare agents and military equipment to Saddam Hussein, and why? Because Saddam 'allegedly' gassed a few Kurds in his own country. Mark my words. All of this talk of Saddam Hussein being a 'war criminal' or 'committing crimes against humanity' is the same old thing. LIBERAL HATE SPEECH! And speaking of poison gas . . . I SAY WE ROUND UP ALL THE DRUG ADDICTS AND GAS THEM." - Rush (oxycontin) Limbaugh, Nov. 3, 1988

Limbaugh is such a self-serving shmuck. Ask Mark to explain this one.

I'm not absolutely sure but I think that quote was debunked. Any DUers know about this one?

On edit: In fact, the more I read it the more I'm convinced that it is a phony quote. Just something the right would like to see the left seize on and repeat over and over just so that it can be debunked in the end and they can laugh at how gullible we are. I don't buy it.

24. I could be wrong...
...and I hate to judge a person based on his low post count (we all had low post counts at one point) but he said that he "heard" this quote. Maybe he meant that he heard it second or third hand and NOT from Rush himself. I've just been paranoid since after the election. It just seems that this site is crawling with disruptors and trollers. On the other hand the guy does have a star next to his name, so he's either a true blue DUer or a really dedicated disruptor.

30. yes, fine, thanks
I wasn't aware of it. Thank you. It's really no big deal. I didn't hear first hand. I never claimed to. It's actually only the second time I've ever referred to it. I thought it was funny when I first "heard" about it and then saw it written online. Having heard Rush with my own ears say some of the stupidest things I've ever heard, it wouldn't have surprised me if it had been true.

As for my low post count, I used to just read the site for the longest time before I finally started posting.

Hope that clears things up!! Sheesh.

It's not the job of the press to paint rosy pictures. It's the job of the press to point out issues, explain controversy and keep us honest.
Mark want pretty pictures of Iraq because he is in deep SHAME.
