Anyone here ever have something sprayed with paraquat?

Those of you who toked up in the 1970's-80's will know what I mean. Part of the drug war then involved US government planes finding pot fields and spraying the pot with Paraquat. Paraquat was a substance which made the user have horrible headaches, severe nausea and an all out feeling like they want to die. Can you see the logic here? Neither can I...

Anyway...anyone here ever end up with this as a surprise?

Though I did wind up once with a joint that was laced with angel dust and nobody bothered to tell me. That was a very strange and uncomfortable time - I was driving cross country and we had to pull off the highway and freak out in a rest stop for a number of hours.

In 1969, Richard Nixon initiated "Operation Intercept", a program designed to stem the flow of Mexican marijuana into this country. The program forced Mexico to use paraquat on its marijuana fields. In similar actions, pressure was put on Thailand, Colombia, and Jamaica to curtail imports to the U.S. Mexican marijuana farmers in efforts to salvage their crops still harvested the marijuana and continued to sell the paraquat-laced marijuana to users in Mexico and the United States. There were no reported cases of death occurring from smoking the paraquat-laced marijuana but users reported nosebleeds, headaches, vomiting, and breathing disorders. Paraquat has since been banned for the large scale destruction of marijuana feilds.

5. a coworker of mine's elder sister

who had a lung condition expired after smoking stuff that was contaminated. Yet another heinous toxic tragedy that was never exposed.

6. I remember being afraid (in 1978) to buy anything that wasn't green.

The sprayed stuff supposedly turned brown and then could be sold as "Gold". But despite the scare, I didn't know anyone who actually had any contaminated weed, much less know anyone who had any ill effects from it.

7. The stuff I smoked was green

So not sure how well that held up - also could have been right before harvesting.

Despite them saying it was dropped, they still did it well into the eighties btw...
