Should I buy another artificial Christmas tree or take it away from my Cat
I live in a small apartment and last year I placed my artificial Christmas Tree back in it's box but it didn't fit perfectly back in and I placed the box along one of my walls near my couch. My Cat has taken up residence in the tree. I think that he feels like its a bush and it feels like home to him. He is a rescue kitty and he was out for at least 6 months before we took him in.

If I take the tree away from him will he have separation anxiety? It probably is filled with cat hair anyway. It's not a cheap tree and I bought it last year so it is kind of new except for the smooshed down parts.

5. Thanks
I paid $40.00 for it on sale at sears and it was marked down from a couple hundred bucks. He weighs about 20 pounds and he might have ruined it.

3. Will the kitty try to sleep in it if you put the tree up?
That's the bigger concern, IMO.

7. He might climb it
He meows when he wants me to put him up on the tree and he does that several times a day.

6. If you put up the tree
I'd worry that kitty would try to climb it and end up breaking things or getting hurt.

You could try getting kitty a cheap tree substitute and try to slip it into the box.

:)

9. That brings back a memory of my Mom
We use to have a 7 1/2 foot huge Artificial tree that was real strong.

One day my Mom was missing the kittens that Mama cat had and she thought that they might have gotten out of the house. All day she searched for the kittens and then she noticed that the tree was moving so she looked back in it and sitting on the branches near the trunk were the kittens. All three had picked out a separate branch to sit on. It was a Kodak moment but they moved before she could get a picture of them.

11. Reminds me of my Boxer, Jake
Who is no longer with us

Anyway, Jake was a cuddle buns and loved stuffed toys. He had a stuffed Garfield that one of the kids had given him and his mother Dixie used to tease him by taking it away from him and depositing it in the water dish. She was a wonderful dog but really gave the word "bitch" a new meaning in relation to Jake!

Anyway, my sister who always wraps presents elaborately had given me a gift with a little teddy bear perched on top. Jake spent the weeks before Christmas plopped in front of the tree with big soulful eyes gazing at that teddy bear. He'd look at it, then at me, then back at it in a very obvious pantomime.

It was too cute to resist. I finally gave it to him. I'd probably give your cat the tree too and either get another one or go without. I'm a sucker for furry creatures.

12. Kitties have separation anxiety, but they also have an extremely short
attention span. Put up the tree. He'll find a suitable replacement.

13. My cat can't remember that she's just eaten
But she still remembers that the little window in my pantry used to be her personal kitty door onto the neighbor's roof six years ago before they tore their house down and put a big ugly condo up against my window. She still runs into the pantry when I'm in there and cries pitiously at the window, which now opens onto a wall. I always feel so bad that I can't explain to her where her door went. (Not to mention pissed about the loss of light in my kitchen!!)

But he is a nice kitty and I can't understand why someone would toss him out like garbage and to make matters worse it was in the dead of winter

16. Ho! Ho! Your going to have perment Tree Woes!
Now that you have ok'ed him playing in that tree, it will be hard to break him from climbing any tree that you put in the house. And it's hard enough to keep them from doing it in the first place.. LOL!

I hope your not planning on putting anything breakable on your tree. And that you tie that thing down if possible, to keep it from tipping over. LOL!

As for that tree, yep.. it's his. Good luck with that.
