Annoying Sesame Streets songs you remember...
Every now and then I get this little ditty caught in my head... sung in a gentle groovy seventies tone...

"Somebody come and play...

Somebody come play today...

Somebody come, to share a smile,

to sing a song,

It won't take long...

Somebody come and play...today."

And I can't for the life of me get it out!

Hypnotized by the Children's television Workshop I guess?

Anyone else?

1. One of these things is not like the others,

One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely...right!

2. Oh can't you see? There's a bird on me.
That's all the lyrics... repeated several times. There was short cinematograpy of a rhino coated with birds.

I think it scarred me.

33. Interesting trivia about that song....
The reason that the la la la la la bit is in the song is because the song's writer, Joe Raposo had a serious case of writer's block and couldn't think of anything else to fit tht bit of the song.

32. I was baking cookies all w/e
And I couldn't help but sing that song to myself. (I used to sing it to my niece when she was 3 y.o.)
It gets really annoying about the 200,000th time it goes through your mind :D

5. Doin' the brrrrt brrrrt pidgeon...
Doin' the brrrrt brrrrt pidgeon
Dancin' a little smidgeon of the kind of ballet
that sweeps me away...

Doin' the brrrrt brrrrt pidgeon
Doin' the brrrrt brrrrt pidgeon
People may smile but I don't mind
They'll never understand the kind of fun I find
Doin' the brrrrt brrrrt pidgeon
Doin' the brrrrt brrrrt pidgeon
Doin' the brrrrt brrrrt pidgeon everyday.

22. Maybe you remember the one with...
the guy dressed a a chief, who would carry a tray of pastries, and announce "Ten banana cream pies!"
He would then tumble down the stairs until he was covered in the gooey mess.

"400 fluffernutter sandwiches!" (I noticed. Congats!)

La de da de dum
la de da de dum
What's the name of that song?

La de da de dum
La de da de dum
I used to sing right along!

It goes La de da de dum
La de da de dum
Something something twice
La de da de dum
La de da de
I think it repeats itself twice.

La de da de dum
La de da de dum
What's the name of that song?

La de da de dum
La de da de dum
I need to sing right along!

I've heard it said with words and music
A fella' can't go wrong
La de da de dum
La de da de dum
What's the name of that song?!

12. Not annoying: My all time favorite Sesame Street song
Rubber Duckie

Rubber ducky, you're the one
You make bath time lots of fun
Rubber ducky, I'm awfully fond of you
Woo woo be doo

Rubber ducky, joy of joys
When I squeeze you, you make noise
Rubber ducky, you're my very best friend, it's true
Doo doo doo doo, doo doo

(Chorus)
Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby

Rub-a-dub-a-dubby!

Rubber ducky, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber ducky, I'm awfully fond of you

(Chorus)

Rubber ducky, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber ducky, I'm awfully fond of -
Rubber ducky, I'd like a whole pond of -
Rubber ducky, I'm awfully fond of you

20. Not a song, but: "A!... B!... C!... D!... E!... F!... COOKIE MONSTER!"
Kermit the Frog with a little Asian girl. They'd even have a whole little graphic of Cookie Monster.

I got the sense that the girl and Henson ad libbed the whole sketch from the first time she said "Cookie Monster!"

My personal favorite from the whole show.

24. There was this "L" song Bert did...
Something like,
"la la la la lamppost...

That one's probably fairly obscure. Sort of a "B-side."

25. Not one I dislike, rather one I do like
I Love Trash, sung with Gusto by Oscar the Grouch

Words and Music by Jeffrey Moss
Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I have here a sneaker that's tattered and worn
It's all full of holes and the laces are torn
A gift from my mother the day I was born
I love it because it's trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I have here some newspaper thirteen months old
I wrapped fish inside it; it's smelly and cold
But I wouldn't trade it for a big pot o' gold!
I love it because it's trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash

I've a clock that won't work
And an old telephone
A broken umbrella, a rusty trombone
And I am delighted to call them my own!
I love them because they're trash

Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love, I love, I love trash!

As to annoying, anything sung by Elmo.

41. The "Ten" series: One-Two-Three-Four-Five-Six-Seven-Eight-Nine-Ten!
There was a "common" opening, and ten different variants for each number. There was also a fraction-of-a-second pre-opening, different for each number. The variant for "9" was (IIRC) a cartoon man jumping into a pool from a diving platform.

The "common part" had two hands extending the fingers in sucession, and ten 60's-style race cars numbered 1-10, aligning side to side.

At least, that was in the Brazilian version (which had lots of localized content) but I suspect that was from the original. Was it?
