How do you access your computer from another computer & how do you burn
CD/DVD disk?

I have a ton of homework due and I'm not sure if i am burning it to a disk or not. I feel like an idiot but I tried to burn some homework and it only held one paper and then it said that it was full. The paper was one page long :dunce:

I end up sending myself my homework to my email address and then copying it into the ms program. My College has Apple computers and I am not familiar with them and some of the files won't load.

It takes allot of time because I have to do so much editing that it is driving me up a wall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Peace!

1. It all depends
Mostly on what OS you are using. Going from XP to XP is relatively easy (if there are no routers or firewalls in the way). But it sounds like you are trying to access your PC at a different local. Unless you have the right software you are not going to be able to do that (not even sure if you can from a Mac).

As to burning. Again its an OS issue. If its XP its simple as dragging it to the CD and then telling it to burn it. If its another win OS you are gonna need software. On a Mac. I dunno.

4. The computer that I am on has Windows XP
It only has a DVD drive and another small slot for another type of disk but its not for the 3.5 disk.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150.

6. Is it a DVD Rom or a burner?
You can tell by looking closely at it. It will have an RW on it if it can write.

3. Apples or Macs?
I am assuming Macs. They can't read anything composed on a PC unless they have Word.

5. Microsoft wants you to think that to sell you more software.
icWord
http://www.panergy-software.com/products/lp/go/wo_co.html

It's a free download, and can read Word files on a Mac.

7. I have Word
loaded on my Mac. And I didn't have to pay for it. :)

I like Mac's word processing program better than Word though. It is much easier to use.

9. Lots of things you could do....
the problem is that you are doing the papers at home on a PC in Word and sending them to a Mac, right? And the Mac makes them look screwy?

Emailing them to yourself isn't a bad idea, and may be simpler than burning a disk. But, email the docs as attachments, not in the body of the email. That reduces the problems of formatting and file differences between the Macs and the PC. Uploading the docs to a website works, too, but is a little more complicated and time consuming.

Depending on the documents' complexity, you might try saving them as Rich Text files, instead of Word files. That's the .rtf extension. Appleworks should be able to handle that, if there's no Office on the Macs. If Office, or at least Word, is on the Macs, it should be able to read the Word files sent as attachments with little or no problem.

11. I think that is the same problem that I am having
I think that it would be easier to send myself an email.
