Car Accident Victim Survives Being Impaled By Metal Fence Post
<snip>

ANDERSON, Ind. -- A woman survived being impaled by a 12-foot metal fence post that pierced through her mouth and came out the back of her neck in a car accident, authorities said.

Emergency crews had to saw off part of the 1 1/2-inch thick fence rail to free Alejandra Martinez, who was still awake when crews arrived at the scene. Fire officials were shocked to find her alive.

"Talk about having an angel as a co-pilot," Fire Chief J.R. Rosencrans said. "On her rearview mirror she had a picture of the Madonna. You can tell she is a religious person."

Martinez, 28, was in critical condition late Monday, recovering from surgery, officials said.

Earlier Monday, Martinez drove through a stop sign at an intersection and hit another car, Anderson police spokesman Terry Sollars said. She then lost control, careened off the road and went through a chain-link fence.

The car hit a concrete porch, shoving it three feet back, Sollars said. The metal rod from the fence went through the driver's side of the windshield, he said.

A passenger in the back seat was not injured.

1. an angel saved her?
an angel saved this woman who ran a stop sign and hit someone else first?

What kind of stupid heavenly logic is that?

Ugh! I hate when people who survive something random claim it was because they prayed well--implying that their neighbor's house was blown away by the tornado or whatever because they did NOT pray well.

But when someone's religion saves her after she had done something that endangered others, that is just too much.

Geesh!

P.S. Sorry, this story touched a nerve.

4. I know what you mean.
Just like if there's some fire in a building and some person finds a way to get out, they claim it's a miracle. Oh, and about 100 people died in the fire while God was performing a miracle for the person who got out alive. :eyes:

3. Angel as co=pilot
This shit reminds me of one of my favorite Simpsons episodes when a tornado strikes Springfield.

The sign on the church read "We welcome Gods Victims"

6. Strange angel
Couldn't it have prevented the accident, make her not overrun a stop sign? Or prevent just the impalement?

10. Well, I wouldn't really expect ...
... that a 2000+ year old virgin is an expert on modern days traffic rules.

9. Religion aside,
that is one damn lucky woman.

Can you imagine having to sit there waiting for help to arrive?

Sheesh!

That she claims an angel had anything to do with it is beyond belief.

Now I am beginning to see how these people can worship *Bush after his failure in preventing, or at least trying to prevent, 9/11.

Their god has nothing to do with the bad that happens.

Only if it works out okay, at least in their minds, does their all powerful being have anything to do with it.

Or am I reaching here?
