It looks like I'm out of luck. This was only a matter of time, I get it from both sides of my family. I'm going in for the test on Thursday, but I think it's obvious what the answer is. :-(

At least once this is addressed, I'll get my old energy level back. I've been close to fast asleep 24/7 for a year. See, I can be positive. :D

2. I'm sorry to hear that |
|
I took a test on the 16th and scored 123. The cut-off is now 126. I've got three months to try and fight it through nutrition and exercise.
My husband is a type 1 and diabetes is such a shitty disease.

things under your control. Weight. Exercise. Diet.
Two of my brothers have adult-onset diabetes, both overweight, one with especially poor eating habits. About three years ago I took of 30 pounds which I've kept off, and I try to eat well.
There are no guarantees in life, but you have quite a lot of control over diabetes as an adult.
Unless the questionnaire reveals that you probably already have it, in which case, what a shame and do all you can now to minimize its impact.
Diabetes is a terrible, deadly, silent disease.

6. It's up to you to manage it well (if you have it) |
|
I guess it's hard to avoid when it's in both sides of the family. You must be familiar with how to manage it. I'v seen a cookbook for diabetics. There are foods to avoid, but you can go on eating very well, as long as you also exercise! Cheer up and good luck! You haven't had the test yet - maybe you're only pre-diabetic!

7. I was diagnosed in May, |
|
though I had a sneaking suspicion for a few months prior. My fasting blood sugar was 148 then, glucose tolerance test showed around 280.
I have since lost 17 pounds, and through diet and medication, my average is now 110. If I could get myself to exercise, I would probably be able to dump the prescription. Still working on that one.
Diabetic diets are not as bad as you may think, basically just eating sensibly. I still have some sweets. My biggest hurdle is pasta and potato chip snacks.
My mother was on dialysis due to heart problems, not diabetes. Anytime I am tempted to go off the wagon for very long, I think about the quality of life she had. Brings me right back to reality.
You can do it! And you won't believe how much better you'll feel, once you get it under control. Good Luck.
