Some FUN For My 800th Post! Favorite Christmas Songs

Religious- Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Grown up- The Christmas Song (Nat King Cole's version)
Fun- Holly Jolly Christmas (the late great Burl Ives)
Kids- Santa Claus is Comin' to Town
Novelty- All I Want For Christmas is My 2 Front Teeth (it used to be Grandma got run over by a reindeer, but my little boy just lost his first tooth and I've taught him how to sing "2 front teeth". He's a cutie)

1. Congrats on your 800th

"Candle in the Window" by Alabama is a very meaningful Christmas song I can barely listen to. When I joined the Navy (about 300 years ago), my mother put an electric Christmas Candle in my bedroom window to light my way home. I didn't make it home for too many Christmas' and she died about halfway through my 24 year career but that candle stayed in my bedroom window. I tear up everytime I hear it. Thanks for letting me share.

8. Not to belabor sadness during this Holiday season

but when my Dad died this past April, I took the Candle from my old bedroom and placed it in a bedroom at our house with a North facing window. I think it shall remain there year round. I just know Mom and Dad can see it from wherever they are now. Best wishes to everyone for a safe and happy 2005!

2. It's hard to choose.

I like so many Christmas songs! My favorite religious one is "Adeste Fideles/O Come All Ye Faithful", but there are several others right up there.

I also love the Frank and Bing songs, like "We Wish You The Merriest" and their version of "Go Tell It On The Mountain."

For fun, I love watching a first-season SNL version of "Winter Wonderland" with such greats as John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin and Laraine Newman.
