I wonder how hard the cable news ratings have been hit?
I don't know about anyone else...but I haven't been able to tolerate the cable news stations AT ALL since this last selection.

For about the first time in eight years I don't know what is going on in the world unless I read it online.

I am dying to know how big of a chunk this will take out of the pockets of CNN and MSNBC--anyone know where you can look at cable news ratings figures online?

1. would love to know too
I stopped watching almost unconsciously. As a total news junkie, it was a gradual awakening "this is all crap and spin", watching less and less until it was just gone completely. AND, my blood pressure has been the better for it.

I would love to know how thier ratings / profits are trending, because I suspect there are a lot of us abandoning them.

8. Yep I was a news junkie too!
I was a news junkie and in spite of the fact that they have ticked me off since before the (S)election in 2000...I still couldn't help but watch constantly.

Even now I have been going through some bizarro world withdrawal
(and have been reduced to the noise of cable food channel shows playing in the background!

3. me too, and the only thing I miss is the local Arts / Leisure section
movie info, Dear Abby, Hints from Heloise, crossword puzzles - hee, hee.

What a shame too, because there is nothing better than sitting down with a cup of coffee on Sunday going thru those sections at leisure, with an actual, physical newspaper - sigh.

I refuse to subscribe anymore, I just pick it up occasionally when I have time for the above...

6. I haven't watched Tweety since the election.
Even spending one minute of my time watching him now begs the question "What was I thinking"?

10. May be a sign that things are not well in cable news world!
I certainly hope so!

I was subjected to faux news today (in a public place, I would never watch that swill voluntarily) and it was appalling, a bunch of "live coverage" of our mongoloid resident visiting with the marines or something...it's one big love fest even more nauseating than usual in FOX world!

I cannot believe people can watch that crap and not realize they are being subjected to out and out brainwashing.

12. Well CNN and MSNBC had it live as well....
The only reason I know is I was watching someting on the History Channel about Lourdes, interesting, and a commercial came on as, since I am a male with absolutely no tolerance at all for anything at all that is non entertainment on my TV, I tweaked the channel changer, what we call a remote in our house, on down to the "news" channels...

All with that smirking liar standing replete in a smart generals jacket, complete with emblazoned republican styled version of an SS symbol in front of a mess o Marines he was about to send off to get killed or maimed or mentally disrupted all for the sake of a misguided reliance on Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Pearle.......

So yea, he was on all three "major" netowrks........

13. I saw that star trek type outfit that said "commander in chief"
Edited on Tue Dec-07-04 10:30 PM by Carni
I guess he has to keep reminding people since the bulk of the population thinks he's a disgusting and stupid asshole that isn't even master of his own domain (little alone commander in chief!)

11. Same here
We still subscribe to the Washington Post, but only for the local news and the arts sections - and the coupons.

I am astonished - and pleased - to discover that I get most of the news I need from the good folks here at DU. I tried to watch Keith Olbermann last night - he's one of the good guys - and I simply could not do it.

The genie is out of the bottle. It's all worthless, and nothing will ever convince us otherwise.

Nice to know that there are others out there like us.
