I don't know what brought it on, but for like the past week I've had awful pain in my right leg. Tried painkillers, a brace, pretty much everything.
I'm thinking it might have something to do with the stairs in the dorm...whenever I have to go up and down them a lot during the day, it seems to hurt more that night. Anyone know any other ways to deal with this?

5. that's what mine did and I had a torn meniscus |

keep the knee wrapped and motrin to keep the swelling down for a while. If it doesn't get better go to a doctor as you might have a tear in there.
feel better.

6. Is there an elevator you can use? |

If so, you should use it, until the pain is gone. And I agree with nini that you should wrap it and take the Motrin (or any generic ibuprofen). I don't know what you're used to or if you have any drug sensitivities but, if it were me, I would take up to 800 mg. twice a day, if the pain is really bad. But whatever amount is right for you, the key is to keep it in your system at all times, for a week or so. Then, if it's not better, see a doc. Of course, if it's really bad now, see a doc right away.
Feel better soon! :)

4. Sounds strange, but it may be your shoes |
|
especially if they're new, sometimes I have unbearable knee pain, and it all traces back to the shoes I'm wearing. At first, I tried everything as well, pain killers, braces, then I changed shoes and the pain went away. It's happened several times, and doesn't show up right away, but I've learned which type of sole produces the pain and stay away from them. Put on an old pair and see if the pain subsides.
