When did they take Monticello off the back of the nickel?

1. I have a 1999 nickel in my desk drawer.

I have several dollars in change. The 1999 nickel has Monticello on the back.

So, sometime between 1999 and 2004.

The reverse you saw is just a temporary commemorative celebrating the Lewis & Clark bicentennial.

Monticello will be back. I wish they'd bring back the buffalo instead.

6. Its only temporary

They printed a limited number of nickels to commemorate the Lewis and Clark expedition anniversary this year. Hold on to them, they are hard to find.

Monticello will be back next year.
