All I want for Christmas is... a new transmission?
It seems Mr. CornField's car has blown its transmission. Oh yeah... It's going to be a happy freaking holiday at our house. Dammit.

1. I hear ya, Cornfield
Not only do I have a transmission days from blowing, but the engine is close to throwing a rod.

Please, oh please let me make it past graduation next week and a job REAL soon!

2. I'm sorry CornField.
Cars can be such an incredible pain in the ass.

info to the computer...all I have to do is to unhook the battery before every drive and all my problems have gone away!

My symptoms. Drove fine..then only drove in 2nd gear..then only drove in 1st gear. Was bad info to the computer...all gears fine, but computer believed the false info...turns out to be a speed sensor?? Needs to be replaced, or just unhook the battery (both terminals-or at least the positive) and viola...no problemo!

Need to edit because I sound like I know what I am talking about.

Took me $1,000 and 8 hours investigating to find out how to put off the problem! Seems they said after doing this and that and the other that they finally decided it was the speed sensor..so before I spent another $500 I decided to investigate and googled and read and googled and read and found out that I could dislocate the battery and temporarily fix the problem...I got that tranny crap from my reading!! not my expertise!!! GOOD LUCK...I hope you can fix your problem as simply!!!!

4. I don't think that's the case here
We dropped it off at the shop Friday. They just had a chance to pull it in and look at it today. We know the guy who owns the place, so it's not shady at all.

It's a 1999 Intrepid. From what James tells me, it won't shift out of first gear when you're going down the road. When you stop for a stop sign, it hangs in neutral.
