It's No Game. (Bowie waxes prophetic)
It's No Game
from Scary Monsters (1980)

Silhouettes and shadows
watch the revolution
No more free steps to heaven
Just walkie-talkie - heaven or hearth
Just big heads and drums - full speed and pagan
And it's no game

I am barred from the event
I really don't understand the situation
So where's the moral
People have their fingers broken
To be insulted by these fascists it's so degrading

And it's no game

Documentaries on refugees,
couples 'gainst the target
Throw a rock against the road,
and it breaks into pieces
Draw the blinds on yesterday,
and it's all so much scarier
Put a bullet in my brain,
and it makes all the papers

And it's no game

Children round the world,
put camel shit on the walls

They're making carpets on treadmills,
or garbage sorting

And it's no game

1. I always thought these lyrics were interesting for the times
Please don't tear this world asunder
Please take back
this fear we're under
I demand a better future
Or I might just stop wanting you
I might just stop wanting you
Please make sure we get tomorrow
All this pain and all the sorrow
I demand a better future
Or I might just stop needing you
I might just stop needing you
Give my children sunny smile
Give them moon and cloudless sky
I demand a better future
Or I might just stop loving you,
loving you, loving you
When we talk, we talk to you
When we walk, we walk to you
From factory to field
How many tears must fall
Down there below
Nothing is moving
Oo-o
I might just stop wanting you
I might just stop needing you
I might just stop loving you
I demand a better future
I demand a better future
I demand a better future
For I might just stop loving you,
loving you, loving you
I demand a better future
I demand a better future
I demand a better future
For I might just stop loving you, loving you, loving you
I demand a better future

6. Notice how they're using a lot of his music in commercials now
Or sometimes I'll hear a song and think, they stole that from Bowie, and it's early Bowie. He's had a big influence on music for decades.

2. Bowie rocks,
even after he did the ultra pop/video sellout "Blue Jeans" in the 80s... he still rocked.

4. I even look forward to the seasonal reruns
of Bowie and Bing (Crosby) doing the Little Drummer Boy duet on Mtv. how pathetic of a "fan" concession, is that?!
