Yuck! Shrub poisoned the air I breathe today! Yeccch! Air Force One...
flew over our neighborhood (well, just a little East of our neighborhood) at 4:35 p.m. today as my wife and I left the house in the car to go shopping. There was no question about it - we live north of Miramar Air Base, in a "no fly" zone for commercial aircraft, and here was a 767 with that round satellite receiver on top in the "no fly" zone - definitely NOT a military aircraft - heading north-northeast just east of our house. My wife and I immediately opened the windows and gave Shrub the finger from each window, shouting "Go back to Crawford!" Neighbors with Kerry lawn signs saw us and laughed and cheered us on (they were standing outside watching Air Force One flying overhead).

Tonight I watched the local news and sure enough, Shrub was in San Diego today. He landed in Air Force One at Miramar, then took a helicopter to Camp Pendelton up north of Oceanside for a photo-op with the marines and a chance to spew blather about "freedom" and "Iraq" to the news cameras, and then the news program showed Air Force One taking off from Miramar, and sure enough that was definitely the plane we saw late this afteroon.

I had read somewhere a couple of days ago that Shrub was coming to California today but I didn't read the whole thing. I didn't care. I had no idea he'd be in San Diego.

And he had the nerve to fly his sorry ass over my neighborhood????

Dayam! Gonna have to get out the bug spray. Gonna have to do all the laundry. Gonna have to steam-clean the carpets. Gonna have to take my cat to the vet for a shampoo. Gonna have to hose down the house. That POS poisoned our air!!!

2. That was not Air Force One

I don't doubt that he was there, but that plane was not Air Force One. It actually is a Military aircraft used to monitor the battlefield or large swaths of area. Air Force One does not have that large satellite dish on its back either!

it may have been the E-2 Hawkeye shown above or another Electronic Survellience plane.

3. No, that's definitely not the plane we saw. It was a 767. And it didn't

have that monstrous round thing on the top and it didn't have that super-wide tail. I know a 767 when I see one. And military aircraft don't fly in the "no-fly" zone I'm referring to either. Only Air Force One would have permission to fly in that area.

My wife was the one who mentioned the little satellite dish thing on the top of the plane. I didn't see it. So that reference in my first post may be mistaken/misleading. What I saw was what is displayed in your first photograph - looking up from underneath, of course, but the head bulge of the plane was identical.

I thought that's what you meant with "that round satellite receiver on top" Maybe Air Force One had modifications done, 'cause that picture certianly doesn't show a satellite reciever.

5. I agree. I'm not sure what my wife was referring to, but I didn't see it.
I saw the general shape, size, and the definitive shape of the 767 head, and what I saw looks exactly like the photo of Air Force One in your first post (except, of course, looking up from the ground).

7. I would never think of flipping off an Air Force plane. I feel relieved
that they're so close by. I wave at them when I see them - usually right along the coast or near the I-805 just west of the base.

8. i never thought that you purposely do
but i could imagine the confusion and anger other people would have felt had they seen you flipping off the Air Force.
I don't live very close to any base, but we always see A-10s and Huey's flying over my home and my college is near camp david, so we get fighters flying over when he's in town. There was one interesting event when a bunch of us were hiking in the same mountains as Camp David and an F-15 flew over us and rolled over in a way to flash us its missles as if he was saying "don't mess with me."
I also stayed in Virginia Beach the same time the USS Nimitz was in port and one night I swear every five minutes an F-18 or F-14 flew directly over our hotel. It was an incredible experience. I was actually watching them take off from the carrier and loop around and fly directly overhead!

9. Well, we live in a very "Blue" neighborhood - we wouldn't think of driving
through downtown Escondido or El Cajon or Santee and flipping Air Force One the bird. :)

Here in SD we see all kinds of navy ships, jet fighters, and helicopters virtually every day. After 9/11, it felt good to know we're well protected here. I have yet to visit any of the carriers in SD harbor yet but I may someday.
