Whatever happened to Winona Ryder?
A few years ago I thought she would be an actress who would go the distance. But after the shoplifting conviction I haven't seen much of her--except for that movie she did with Adam Sandler, "Mr. Deeds" which really didn't go very far. Shame, because she has talent and is easy on the eyes, if I do say so myself.

1. She never seemed to get past the angst ridden teenager role
I did really like her, but it's so hard to make the transition from teenager to adult star. I'm hoping she comes back.

2. Replaced by Natalie Portman
Sorry, Winona Ryder has been replaced by the better acting,
and non-shoplifting Natalie Portman.

Oh sure, there are still roles for Miss Ryder, but Portman
will get the primo roles she used to get.

3. She was horrible in Mr. Deeds.
I hated her in that movie. I usually only enjoy her in edgy roles like "Girl, Interrupted." In those roles she acts her ass off. But in Mr. Deeds she was so fake and her acting was so contrived. I would have preferred someone else in that role.

4. Probably pursuing the indie-rock flavor of the month
The only time I see her in magazines nowadays is when she's playing the groupie to some rock musician.

Given that any musician that dates her ends up with less talent than what he had before dating her I see her as a musical succubus or muse-in-reverse.
