Martha Stewart May Get New TV Show
NEW YORK - Martha Stewart (news - web sites), now behind bars, appears poised to prove she's a "Survivor." Stewart's company, NBC Universal and a TV producer planned an announcement today after months of speculation that Stewart might seek to capitalize on her fall from grace by launching a new television series upon release from prison.

Stewart is serving a five-month sentence at a West Virginia prison and is expected to be released in March. The celebrity homemaker was convicted for lying about a 2001 personal stock sale.

Susan Lyne, president of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc., NBC Universal executive Jeff Zucker and TV producer Mark Burnett are scheduled to appear at a news conference to discuss details of the show.

Burnett, the force behind reality programming, is best known for the "Survivor" series on CBS.

1. All I want from Martha Stewart is for her to become an activist
and bring to light the fact that the law doesn't apply to corporate criminals who are also Republican donors. I can't think of a better candidate.

2. I'm not a fan of Martha but...
good for her, she broke the law and she is paying for it but what really pisses me off it that Enron execs are still free and won't go to jail under this administration. Mark my words Bush will pardon Kenny-boy on his way out of office. The media made her a pariah and she is serving jail time because she is a woman and a democrat, I'm glad to see that she is getting a second chance

4. Hey
Rev how do you feel about sex offenders that serve time? Do they also get a second chance? Or are they to be punished the rest of their lives?

5. I don't really see what this has to do with Martha Stewart...
but the sex offender thing is a slippery slope and it really depends on the crime. If a 20 year old was caught having sex with a 16 year old and spends time in jail for it that person absolutely deserves a second chance. However if it is someone who molests children, I don't think a person can truly be cured of that I wouldn't want him or her working anywhere near children. That isn't to say that person could never be a productive member of society again, I just wouldn't want them near kids

3. more power to her
I have never liked Ms. Stewart but I feel she was railroaded, big time. I won't watch her show because I despise so-called "reality" shows but more power to her.
