Poll question: Best Guy "Chick Flick"? |
|
Whether you realize it or not, many men are hopeless romantics, and there do exist a small handful of movies that cater to us much like so called "chick flicks" appeal to women. Vote for your favorite here.
The patron saint of this genre, is, of course, John Cusack. I could have listed Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer, but if I had, more than half the poll would be taken up by Cusack movies.

1. I'm a fan of "Beautiful Girls" |
|
Tim Hutton, Uma Thurman, Matt Dillon, Natalie Portman, Lauren Holly, Martha Plimpton. It was a sleeper, but a good flick.

Never been able to put my finger on it, but something about him just annoys me to no end.

4. That's more of a "middle aged guy" movie |
|
I'm talking "quirky boy fosters unrequited love for seemingly unattainable girl and against all odds ends up with her" or something similar.

The entire movie is about male friendship. One of my favorites by the way. Excellent story and Tim Robbins at his prime (must have been in his early 30's or so then).

What can I say????
I identify completely with the co-ed with ADHD who knits while thinking about quantum mechanics (though in my case it was microbiology). And I *loved* the scenes in which the prodigies get revenge on their tormenters.
Worst thing I and my co-conspirators ever did was to re-wire the High School public address system to add the sound tract to "Tales from the Crypt" to our Principal's daily speeches.
...And to make those farting noises during our Graduation ceremony!

I found it almost too close to call between High Fidelity and Some Kind Of Wonderful. Then an image of Mary Stuart Masterson (specifically, her character "practice-kissing" Eric Stoltz) flashed across my mind, and I knew what the choice had to be. (Besides, HF has enough votes already...)
