A date which will live in infamy. I was one of several busloads of young men who converged on the AFEES Center in the Federal Building in Newark, NJ for our mandatory draft physicals. We were forced to walk around for a couple of hours in our underwear with all our vaulables (wallet, jewelry, etc) in a clear plastic bag.

I flunked my physical that day (underweight and still recovering from surgery to remove my spleen nine months earlier). When I was still underweight six months later, I was classified 4-F - medically unsuitable for military service.

And we all sang "Alice's Restaurant" over and over that day.....

:-)
