6. You all are kidding me! |
|
I pay $32.00 for cable and they are great but I also have it as a package with my cable digital Tv. Maybe this makes the difference.
If this is the case might as well stick with what I have now.

45 bucks a month, usually. Free installation and free cable modem.

4. Please do yourself a favor and check out the DSL....... |
|
in your area. I have seen the price drop quite a bit.....in our area(NE OHIO) SBC is giving a year for 19.95/month vs. Warner Cable (big time repug backers, btw) at around 46.00/month. I found the DSL is a bit slower on the download, but everything else is the same. You can get different tiers of service that cost more, if you want. You have to be within 5000' of their terminal for them to sell you the service. They will beat any cable service out there price wise. If you have cable already, it is an easy conversion to hook up the modem, but they will charge you for it. SBC gave me the DSL modem. One other consideration: Cable service drops the bandwidth as more and more users(including multiple machines in the house) use the service. DSL has no drop in bandwidth, and you can have up to ten machines in your house. (We have six at last count)

Special on DSL in my area, but I think it is a tie in with phone service. Basic DSL is just under $30.

8. Does Your Local Utility Company Provide High Speed Internet Access? |
|
I have a wireless connection from my local utility company for $25 / month, and it's over twice as fast as a DSL connection.
