My English teacher is an asshole--and a wingnut to boot |
He's been cracking the entire week about "tax-and-spend libruls"...we're talking about Henry David Thoreau and what his politics might have been. I already hated him, but this is just more license. Thank God tomorrow's the last time I ever have to have a class with him.

1. why would he waste time trying to surmise |
Thoreau's politics? He makes them fairly clear in Walden, Civil Disobedience, and in his many anti-slavery writings--not to mention his journal. The better question is Thoreau's political methodology, not his beliefs.
Seems like the guy likes to waste time on nonsense.

6. No, sadly, private college professor...and he has tenure |
so he could pretty much come in dressed as Osama bin Laden and get away with it.

4. say, "you're an english teacher 'cause you couldn't figure out history!" |
heh, and then rub the history in his face if you know anything about it.
(the best teachers i had though were often english teachers. knowledgeable and quite openminded. the only ones more liberal were the religion teachers i had.)

8. Do you get to evaluate him? |
Every college I attended had students evaluate teachers on the last day of class every semester. Some public universities actually publish these evaluations.
If there is no evaluation, I think you should at least write a letter to the administration. Chances are, you aren't the first student to complain about the guy,

9. Weird. My english teacher's a Democrat |
And every class the Rove clone in the class tries to get in an argument with her, which usually gets him dropped a letter grade each time.

11. Heck, let's all rate him |
Since ratemyprofessors.com doesn't limit itself to actual students, give us his name and we'll all go rate him!
(j/k--I'm a little miffed at some of the "ratings" I've seen on those public ratings boards.)
