181. Yorkshire is God's Own County
My mother's family are all from Hull and the surrounding villages for several generations (as in as far back as we've gone). I was born in Ipswich (in Suffolk, in England), which was nearly given England's 3rd University under Henry VIII (plans fell through due to shortage of money).

Now live in Beaconsfield (Buckinghamshire, England). Bucks is probably the most tory voting county in England.

My parents built a house there in 1964. I was born in 1966. My folks sold that house in 1992 (a decision that I - and they - often regret). I went to Burnsville schools from kindergarten through graduation. It was a great place to grow up. My oldest daughter's father lives there.

129. Nice to meet you MR. wt2!
I left Mass long ago when they voted out rent control, (1995?, I no longer remember). I went to Western Mass, then CT where I met my husband. He retired and we moved to FL for less expensive and warmer living. I love Florida weather and fauna/flora and have made many good friends here...but I miss north eastern thinking and living. Especially since Nov 2.
Palm Coast is 30 miles below Jacksonville on the east coast.

I was born in Manhattan, so we are fellow NYers too (sort of).

Vermont is beautiful. I visited Brattleboro a lot when I lived in Western Mass.

Anyway, very nice to meet you. Keep warm up there. And please say "hello" to MRS wt2 from me, a fellow Brooklinite.

i'll pass along your HELLO to mrs. wt2 who actually is naught but a gf of 27 years so the mrs. thing is something of an honorary title ...

Spent my "formative years" there. Went to the old Pierce School before they tore it down and built the new one. Lived on Perry Street, about 70 numbers from Mike Dukakis's house. I can understand missing it. It's really one of the greatest towns in the state.

When you have colleges and nature you can have the best of both worlds.
But you may have to work 24 hours a day for the next six mos. after a week there.

My parents are still there, so there are at least two Dems remaining!

I don't know how much of a change it will be, but I detest Johanns, so I'm hoping for an improvement. I didn't know he was from Fremont though, that doesn't bode well.

One of my friends actually just moved up there. So actually, there are at least 3 Dems. She hates it intensely.

I spent most of my time growing up there. Otherwise, I lived in various locales in L.A. I was born in Nicaragua but I have lived in the U.S. since I was two months old. Glendale is an anomaly. It's one of the few conservative leaning areas in Los Angeles county. Doesn't that suck?

I've lived in West Virginia all my life - Kingwood, WV then Morgantown, WV & now Charleston, WV. I know ... I know - I need to broaden my horizons, but I love the Mountain State!

Maybe give it some time, NamVetsWeeLass - it's a great state primarily for the sites ... camping, hiking, biking, skiing, whitewater rafting - whatever your interest. But, there are certain areas of the state that I could understandably detest as well!
