What the...? Why am I supposed to evaluate MYSELF as part of my grade?? |
|
Just got an e-mail from my clinic professor - we have to evaluate ourselves as part of our grade. I have to criticize my performance in class participation, mock trial, client interaction, etc. Is ANYONE going to be honest and say, "I suck - give me the C I deserve?" I find this very odd. She's a terrific professor - I find it hard to believe she'd do this out of laziness.

3. I'm giving myself "5s" and waxing rhapsodic about my performance! |
|
If I don't get an A in this clinic, I'm going to be really ticked off. I've worked my BUTT off in this class, more so than most of the other students, and have accomplished a lot in tandem with my team partner. My professor has told both of us repeatedly that she's THRILLED with our performance. In fact, we're the only ones she asked to come back next semester. I just feel funny raving about myself!

2. This approach has been the "new thing" for years now |
|
It's all over the workplace. Employees are supposed to evaluate themselves and set their own goals for improvement. Then they meet with their employers, hear their employers ideas about their performance and goals, and then they "work together" to develop "consensus" on "shared goals."
Of course, this is all pretend, because the employer holds all the power and both parties know it.

4. I've done this sort of thing at work before |

But it's the first time I've had to do it for a class grade. Yes, Professor, I LOVE myself!! Give me the damn A!

5. Give yourself the highest credit possible |
|
If they question you, tell 'em you know how to get ahead when you're given a chance, and if they don't like it they should think twice about their policy.

7. You'd be AMAZED at the honesty |
|
I've seen many students who are far more harsh on themselves than the professor ever would have been.
When given the opportunity, most people are honest.
