Has anyone ever called you because you have a funny name?
It just happened to me.

A '411' operator called me because she saw my unusual (real life) name when she was trying to find a listing for a customer. She wanted to know if that was really my name.

:argh:

2. No, but that is curious...
because my surname is a different spelling of an insect. Pronounced the same way, but spelled entirely different.

I mostly get calls because there are people in the same block with the same last name and they confuse us. And it isn't all that common a name.

And a while ago, because there was a restaurant with a similar phone number that happened to be named something that sounded exactly like my first name. I got calls saying "I want to make a reservation". I'd respond "What for?"

Think the place is out of business now. No phone calls for a couple years.

3. Joaquimo Paranquaicutiqitidimiquaro
Real guy in the Whittier phone book. My sister was a telephone operator there - even the operators would harass this poor guy.

He lived on Z street. Moved away or died years ago.

6. A teacher of mine, once
His initials were L.L.L. and he lived on Lyric Lane. Almost didn't buy his house because of the street name. Information operators were highly amused.

7. No but
when I was young we used to make prank phone calls to Harry Dick and Cherry Bottom (both real names). They used to get so mad.

10. I was kind of flattered and amused
Plus the caller sounded like a young female so I went into Flirt Mode when I chatted with her.

Sadly she lives in Los Angeles (I'm in San Diego).
