1. Sirius.
They've got a CEO who is a huge Dem supporter, and their spokesman is Howard Stern who bashes the FCC and bush constantly.

4. XM=Clear Chanel, nuf said!
Clear Chanel, the evil empire of FM radio. Banned the Dixie Chicks, puts up "Follow the leader" bill boards. Yuck, XM sucks!

5. Not entirely true.
Clear Channel has a 5% stake in XM. Not controlling interest by a long shot.

Besides, Clear Channel stations carry Air America in some markets.

I had Sirius for about a day. Couldn't make it work worth a damn. Also got jerked around when I tried to get a refund for the six months' subscription they made me buy. When I get satellite radio again, it'll be XM. Also because they'll carry Major League Baseball next spring.

7. Actually it's a 10% stake and thats "serious."
I've had Sirius for about 10 months and love it. I don't know what the problem was but I'd take another look. The content is awesome, much better, IMHO, than XM. Plus XM tried to run commercials about four months ago (on the music streams) and then backed off. If you did a car installation, you need to get the RF switch or it will suck (like XM). If it's indoors, Sirius gives you an extension cord that actually boosts signal. Try them again and explain the problem. I think you got a crappy service rep. Good luck.

6. I'm thinking about satellite radio, too.
I've looked at both. I subscribed for a free 3-day trial at www.sirius.com. I really like it. One station played Christmas music non-stop! It was fun! If I get satellite radio, it will be Sirius for the sheer fact that they support more Dems and XM is partially owned by Clear Channel from what I've heard.

XM was cheaper by the month @ $9.95 and Sirius is $12.95 and doesn't have quite as many channels and I wish they had NPR radio and some others that XM does but I won't go against my attempt to buy blue from here on out--no matter what.

8. XM for the music
I've had XM for almost a year and I love it. I rented a car that had Sirius and it didn't have the variety of music and deep play lists that XM has. If you want more familiar music stations, a variety of talk stations and the NFL, go with Sirius. If you're mostly interested in music and have eclectic tastes, XM might be the choice for you. Also, I'm looking forward to listening to baseball next year on XM. The only thing I wish XM carried is the full lineup of AAR. I have to listen to Malloy on the computer.

9. can't get
Opie & Anthony on Sirius. I have XM, like it and haven't a one problem with it. XM has 4 channels playing non stop Xmas music. Tho old stuff(Bing Crosby) country, the weird stuff(barking dogs) and the newer recordings.

11. XM does not equal Clear Channel.
Once again, this needs to be a sticky. :) They own less than 2%, and they're getting rid of that.

12. Sirius preempts left-leaning programming to broadcast
sports programming. If you're OK with that idea, then go for it. It's possible XM does the same.
