What is up with the return of the Variety Christmas Show????
This is just plain fucking wrong. I thought this died with the 70's. You remember, Donny and Marie Christmas special, Star Wars Variety Christmas Special, et al...

Where talentless hacks would have their friends come by and sing for various Christmas specials....I so loathed those.

Well now there's a Clay Aiken Christmas Special, a Jessica Simpson Christmas special ---WTF???? Are they trying to drag us into the filth of the 70's. Granted I love the 70's...but that was the worse part of it - all the FUCKING VARIETY SHOWS!!!

AND NOW THEY'RE BACK!!!!!

1. Return of Bucolic Entertainment
It's part of the 50's Revival the Bush Era has brought us.

Soon there will be a move to recruit LAPD and Oakland cops in Alabama, just like in '59.

2. You must make room for the people who disagree
I enjoyed the Clay Aiken Christmas special very much, thank you. I have really missed all those variety shows. I think they're fun and warm and fuzzy at Christmas time, and at other times of the year. Get a grip. All I see on TV these days is murder and mayhem. It's got to effect our children. Hurray for the variety show; you don't have to cover the little ones eyes, and it makes the season special, sorta like watching the Grinch and Frosty. Some things should just go on and on.

3. Watch the Star Wars Christmas Special
And then you will feel my pain.

Mark Hammill should never be given a chance to sing.

4. OK
But I'd rather watch paint dry for an hour than subject myself to the double cheese of Barry Manilow and Clay Aiken forcing fake merriment on me.
But by all means, enjoy the show.
:)

5. I enjoy Christmas shows also but they show them too early
My parents are both elderly and shut ins. They have cable but last Christmas Eve there wasn't one variety show on Christmas Eve on any of their 75 channels. Many religious shows but nothing of a lighter nature.
