DU College Students & Teachers can you please answer a question for me
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 03:29 AM by GingerSnaps
Question: Do you give or receive gifts at the end of each semester? What type of gift is it and how much should a student spend?

I have always given my Professors a gift at the end of every semester in order to show my appreciation that I have had the opportunity to share their knowledge and to say thank you. I also know that Teachers are not paid what they should be paid and I ask them not to open it up until they have posted my grades.

Next week my classes will be over for this semester and I need to get some feedback on what to buy a Professor. The last College that I attended was a private College and I kind of knew what they would like because I was a TA. I need ideas and your response would be greatly appreciated. .

How about a $1,000.00 dollars and then you wouldn't even have to show up for class?

5. A small token, like a few truffles, a special coffee mug, a jar of candy
are all nice gestures.

But most profs I know would be greatly offended if $$ offered, since that looks a lot like a bribe or at least ethically questionable. 'Course I figure poster above is probably kidding about getting a grade in return for gift...(I hope so anyway).

7. Thanks
I would never give them money either because they most definitely would be insulted. Thanks for the suggestions.

Welcome to DU
