1. No comparison -- Flip all the way. He even had a doll.

One side was Flip, the other was Geraldine. We had one. It was one of those talking dolls. I still love his show and wish he was still around.

2. Nipsey Russell.

He was a fixture on every game show with celebrities back in the 60's and 70's. I liked his rhymes. :-)

Also, he was one of the VERY few reasons to watch the film version of "The Wiz". And that's saying quite a bit.

3. Flip Wilson was actually a pretty talented and extremely versatile...

...entertainer. He carried his own variety show...at a time when it was considered trailblazing for network TV to do that with an African-American entertainer.

Nipsy Russell was just one of those "famous-only-for-being-famous" celebrities of the 70s who'd say a few dumb rhyming jokes ("poems") when he was being a panelist on cheesy gameshows with other scary talented people like Brett Sommers and J.P. Morgan.
