5. another question: will you ever lock that thread where the poster
asked you to lock their thread? oh, and another question  did you vote in my "Skank of the Year or BigMcLargehuge" poll, and, if so, who did you vote for?

7. Is this the reason you have been distracted and haven't
locked the thread that says "Hey BigMcLargeHuge, lock my thread?" - or is there something else on your mind? ;)

but I do not. He's the software developer guy. I only speak psychopathology and rock and roll, myself. ;)

12. actually, the software is only the tool causing me psychotic anger
at the moment...

here's the lowdown -

We have a customer with 8 e-learning titles in their library. They want to test new hires on their basic understanding of the content of these titles. Easy enough. I make eight tests and tell the software to draw only a set number of questions out of a larger pool, per topic. Each test sits in its own little folder that the student sees.

So far sounds simple, simple implementation, simple applications.

I "build" the test with its 8 component parts (the actual tests within the overall project) and get an error message that it cannot randomize tests that sit inside invididual folders...

So essentially rather than building a single test curriculum wth 8 tests inside it, I have to build 8 separate tests, with four randomized versions each so instead of giving the customer 4 "tests" with 8 randomized tests inside it, I have to give them 24 individual tests - 8 tests times 4 random versions...

And the thing that pisses me off to no end is that I TOLD the software developers that I needed it to work this way, that this was the most common application of the testing engine, and that customers liked getting several smaller tests within one project.

Now they can't and I look like a boob of the first order for telling the customer that our software could do this.

I say again - :argh:

17. Man, you are royally f*cked...
sorry :)

Nothing like streamlined software systems, eh? Can you get into the code and get it changed, since it's proprietary?

21. I am contemplating flying out to Kansas
and storming the home office to put the fear of Big McLargehuge into our programmers.

We HAD to build this from the ground up, we couldn't BUY an off the shelf package that did everything ours does, only BETTER... Oh no... that would have been TOO EXPENSIVE.

28. Then it's a piece of cake...
but don't ask me to code it for you... I've been managing IT projects for so long, I've forgotten most of my programming skills. But I did work with Foxpro, and even if it doesn't have a random function (though that would be surprising), it must have access to other dll's functions.

20. I don't know what to think of the remake
other than, for my money Tim Burton has made exactly one watchable film, Ed Wood. And to see him gloomify what is, perhaps, one of my favorite films of all time is just too difficult to comprehend.

I think I'll be watching the original on DVD on opening day and pretend the remake was never made.

or those that conflagrate uncontrollably. It's not as stress relieving as you think.
