Are mixed marriages in trouble?

We have friends, one who is a bush loving reptile, but a good person none the less, and his wife is a lifelong democrat. I'm wondering if they're going to last as a couple, and also why I even give a flying fuck.
I guess maybe because I don't see him past the point of salvation, just slow witted and in need of knowledge being spoon fed to him.
I think the next year is going to be hard on all of us, people of mixed marriage, I don't see how they're going to stay together.
