Mel Gibson begins his Final Solution

Mel Gibson buys personal Pacific island

Hollywood star Mel Gibson, flush from the huge success of his religious film "The Passion of Christ," has splashed out 15 million dollars on a private Pacific island, a report said.

The Australian-raised screen heartthrob and movie industry mogul flew to Fiji earlier this month where he bought the 2,160-hectare (5,400-acre) island of Mago from a Japanese hotel chain, People magazine reported.

Gibson plans to turn the Pacific paradise, that is home to 40 residents, mostly coconut farmers and their families, into his own personal retreat, the US magazine said in its edition due to hit news-stands on Friday.

This is how it starts folks. First it's just a small island in the middle of the ocean, then it's a small country, then he conquers a continent, and then...THE WORLD!

AMerican parents, lived in American until he was 12 - moved back in his early 20's and lives there now.

Why is the "australian raised" bit ALWAYS in there - he was fundie raised not AUstralian raised!

7. "Final Solution" is a bit harsh, no?
Rich people buy land/houses all the time. He's not killing anyone, eliminating anyone, or anything.

If anything, if you think Mel is a bit loopy, he probably bought that island so that when the rest of the world is living in a nuclear holocaust, he and his family will have their little island. If you think that way.

9. My thoughts exactly
Mel Gibson isn't stupid nor is he crazy. He too can see the writing on the wall and has found a place to make a home for himself and his family.

Let the man be; After all, he isn't *

10. Well, there's that "global warming" thing...
At least ONE good thing will come of global warming:

Mel Gibson's island may soon be under water.

12. Wait, WHY do people hate Mel Gibson so much?
To wish his island under water?

Because he made a grandiose movie about Jesus (like no one else makes grandiose movies)? Because he's a conservative (who would not say he was voting for Bush, probably because he didn't)?

Is he responsible for his father's views on the Holocaust/Jews? Do people usually believe everything their parents believe?

Just checking.

13. That's ridiculous. There is NOTHING in that article that even implies
that he's got that island for religious reasons.

Or are we to believe that every religious person who buys property is setting up Jonestown/Waco/whatever?

:eyes:
