Fuck Y'all, I'm from Texas! |

That's the slogan that was printed on a T-shirt KCDem and I saw in Austin when we went to meet Will Pitt.
It pretty much sums up the attitude of many I've met here, in the Belly of the Beast.

3. Proper grammar would be: |
|
Fuck ALL Y'all. So you don't get confused with the form of y'all that refers to only one person.

It should have been "Fuck all y'all!"
But it was printed as "Fuck y'all!"

5. When I lived in TX, I used to hear it as.................. |

"F*ck All Y'all"
or
"Fuhgallyahl"
Yep. Quite a place you got down there. I never lived anywhere that I alternatively loved and hated as much. Well, loved a bit, hated a bit more.

but most of the people who go around spewing these obnoxious platitudes are pretty recent Texans (1 or 2 generations). My family has been here since it was part of Mexico and I have not noticed any of this sort of behavior amongst my many relatives. I don't think any of them judge people based on where they are from. I think that it has become something of a pissing contest within the past few decades based on the image portrayed by actors on TV and the movies such as John Travolta in "Urban Cowboy", John Wayne in "the Alamo", and George W. Bush in "the Presidency".
Just my $.02 worth, I could be wrong.

Seems like whenever I got out of the cites and into the real Texas, folks were much more polite.....and rational.
Hell, the people out near Hondo and Uvalde were downright normal.

El Lago, which is just west of Seabrook, to be exact. Just east of JSC. Hence my screen name.
But I went camping in Garner SP for a month one weekend. What a beautiful place. Rust colored cypress trees on the white shoreline of the aqua colored Frio River. Went hiking in Lost Maples. Gorgeous.

I have family in League City too. Lost Maples is nice this time of year. And you haven't lived until you've gone to the Medina Apple Festival.

I kinda have to agree with you here. My family is Texan for at least 8 generations back. They are all a little on the conservative side, but none of them do that damn posturing stuff.
Chimpy McSockPuppet wants people to think he is from Texas as an attempt to make him look tough. There is a reason why they say he is all hat and no cowboy.

I remember when I first came to Texas I'd see these bumper stickers that said IF YOU AIN'T FROM TEXAS YOU AIN'T SHIT. I called a local radio show and informed them that translated literally, they were saying IF YOU ARE FROM TEXAS YOU ARE SHIT. HA HA, HA HA HA HA! :D

was on the late and lamented Hickoids T-shirts (think the Gourds, but drunker and less skillful, but as fun and funny) in the late 80's. the back said, Stop it - Yer Killin' Me!. It was funny with them - now all the hardcore rightwing Aggies wear Fuck You we're from Texas shirts and it ain't funny anymore...

I was in baggage claim in the Houston Intercontinental Airport and an attractive young woman walked by wearing a big white Stetson, tight, tight jeans, and that T shirt. White letters about 6" high on a black shirt. I am not a prude and I'm not easily shocked, but I just stood there for a few seconds with my mouth hanging open.
Whats IS she thinking? What message does she think she's sending? Does she think it's "cute", or sexy? What would/does her mother/father/husband/boyfriend think? I don't get this...AT ALL.
Then I went through the standard "What is the younger generation coming to?" Mencken was right. Nobody ever went broke betting on the bad taste of the average American. :eyes:
