Hey everbody, want to see my neat-o vintage record player
No reason, just bored, I wanted you to see my cool retro record player that I bought at a flea market last summer for 15 bucks...this thing still runs on vacuum tubes baby...

It still works too, just kind of muffled, but I still use it when I'm in the mood. It's even got a rotating needle so you play LP, 45s, and 78s! Talk about high tech!

And it adds ambiance to any happening singles pad...at least until my mom tells me to turn it down...

Of course we'll need some Lounge music. Should we go swinging with Sinatra, or get introspective with Dylan?

Oh that's right, today's Friday, December 10...Come on get happy!

;-)

23. Yeah...
My family bought the house used back in the early 90s and the room hasn't been redecorated since the previous owners did it, I'm guessing in the 70s.

Me I love it. That's authentic fake wood paneling there...

4. Pretty Cool.
Just be careful of your albums. I'll bet that tone arm tracks at about 2 ounces!
We used to call that type of record player a "Lathe" :)

7. My albums
are mostly crap that I bought at flea markets, I have a much more modern stereo for playing any real music, the vintage one is mostly for decoration.

12. Yep this on has three needles on the arm
sort of a rotating switch for use in changing speed. The 45 needle won't work on a 33.

22. I first thought it was Britney Spears, but vinyl has been dead since 1994.
It could only be Nancy Sinatra: Rubber stamp 'hottie chick' image.

17. Then I'll have to serenade you
with a Partridge Family Song from that same record

Can't get her out of my mind, I see her face wherever I go
She didn't say it but I know she doesn't love me
I thought that I was king, she didn't want to play my game
If I had the sun to give her in the morning

She'd rather have the rain
Than anything I could give her
I'd give her anything that you care to name
She'd rather have the rain

Today I had to realize that every dream just can't come true
I know there's nothing I can do to make her want me
I could take the sun from heaven, tie it to a silver chain
Bring it so it shines upon her through the morning

She'd rather have the rain
Than anything I could give her
I'd give her anything that you care to name
She'd rather have the rain

When you need somebody, you want to give her everything
But it hurts when she doesn't hear the song that you sing

She'd rather have the rain
Than anything I could give her
I'd give her anything that you care to name
She'd rather have the rain

Rather have the rain, rather have the rain, rather have the rain

;-) or maybe you'd rather have me put my black fedora on and sing you some Sinatra...

27. Awesome player
Thanks for posting... I love this kind of stuff. The pad looks cool.

I collect records and currently only have one working turntable 'cause the one in my room has broken. It's driving me crazy not being able to play records in there!

Oh yeah, I see that Buddah record on the turntable. That wouldn't happen to be a 1910 Fruitgum Co. or Ohio Express LP, would it? I love Kasenatz-Katz bubblegum records; I'm probably one of the few people who wasn't eight years old in the late sixties (child of the eighties/ early nineties myself) to ever utter that statement! It's just catchy, enjoyable music to me.

29. Yeah,
I collect all kinds of weird vintage stuff, mostly from the 60s and 70s...I posted this on another forum, a box of flash cubes I bought at a flea market. The woman who sold them to me must have thought I was crazy to but them!

It's the Brooklyn Bridge...you can see the cover slightly under the Laura Branagan cover...

"Giiirl I heard you're geting Married..."

P.S. I dig bubblegum music too...

37. Awesome
"Worst That Could Happen" is a cool song.

Those flashcubes are nice, too. I like to pick up random stuff like that at flea markets from time to time as well. My favorite is an eight-inch-or-so-high wooden hand flashing a peace sign that I picked up at a garage sale a couple of years ago.

By The Brooklyn Bridge...

"oh won't you welcome me love...
My name is loneley...
Tell that girl that I think of her only..."

"My kite/your kite" from the same album, is also a cool bubble-gum classic I like...

That's a cool one. I picked up that album by Brooklyn Bridge in a batch of records a few years ago but haven't listened to it in a while. I may have to dig it out and give it a spin now that it's on my mind!

I know one song by them 'cause I have it on a 45: "Back on the Street Again." They have a pretty cool sound. Spanky and Our Gang are good, too. I guess I tend to like a lot of late-sixties/early-seventies pop in general!
