Puppies Delivered From Dying Dog
Puppies Delivered From Dying Dog
C-Section Performed

Carolyn Shaw, of Cedar City, Utah, arrived home to find her Chihuahua, Annie, dying with her puppies inside of her.

Shaw, a paramedic, checked Annie and determined that the dog had died, but that the puppies were still moving.

Using a sharp knife in her kitchen, Shaw performed a makeshift C-section and delivered the puppies.

Her friend, and fellow paramedic, Kori Barker helped during the procedure.

1. I'm glad these puppies are ok, but my first reaction was...
...why the hell wasn't this dog spayed? There are millions of dogs out there that need homes, tons of cats and dogs are desroyed every day.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I can't believe anyone would not spay or neuter their pet in this day and age.

2. Perhaps she's a breeder?
It is a full-blooded dog.

3. Chihuahuas often need C-sections
because they are so tiny and the puppies have proportionally large heads. If this was a breeder, she should have known this and paid a bit more attention to the dog's due date.

4. Glad you said that--I tried posting that the other night, and lost AOL
so I said, "Phuck it," and went to bed.

I just can't feel warm and fuzzy about this story knowing how much the mother suffered--and probably needlessly.

5. My daugther has done puppy heimlech procedure twice
We breed dogs and on two occassions she has performed the puppy version of the heimlech procedure. Both puppies lived.

My daugther also has watched a doggie c-section.
