Here's to the small things. Here's to the small things that give pleasure.
Here's to the itty-bitty, everyday things that bring a smile.
My hands are complicated thoughts.
My hands are complicated.
Ahhhh, but my feet just want to GO.

(what's the bus that comes by here?)

Here's the things that give gods pleasure.
Here's to the things that make gods smile.
The way one day fades to another.
The way simple desires get expressed.
The smallest victories are often the biggest.
The smallest victories are often the big ones.
The way one day fades to another.
The way simple deires get expressed.
As the past gets filled up with failure....
The smallest victories: they all add up."

A copy of a brand-new mix CD goes to the DUer who can correctly identify the band and song.

5. There you go!
PM me if you want a special "post-election" Mix CD. No Pere Ubu on it, but lots of relevant song-based material pertaining to "the troubles."

6. I'll play it on my internet station!
I'm from Clevo and grew up during that time; Peter Laughner is a God to me...

7. Oh GOD! Peter Laughner.......
I used to put his version of "Baby's on Fire" on mix tapes and play them at work, and it never failed to get people to run up to me and say "Who IS this?!?"

Laughner, dead at 24 from pancreatitis. He truly was a deity.

9. I met him when he played w/ Rocket From The Tombs...
Through my brother; great guy. I play the original vinyl recording of his stuff on Koolie all the time; I play "Cinderella Backstreet", "Sylvia Plath", and "Beaudilare" on my guitar all tthe time, too.

I loved "Dear Richard", too; man, I miss him...

11. Can I worship you now? YOU MET LAUGHNER?!?!?
That is so fucking sweet.

The original vinyl recordings? When did they first get bootlegged on vinyl? I thought the first appearance on any form other than cassette was the Tim/Kerr release in 94.

12. One that was released in '84
Called "Peter Laughner" on Koolie Records; it was released just in Cleveland I imagine. 6 song EP, with xeroxed liner notes. It was pretty lo-fi packaging, but it was a great record.

Laughner was one helluva guitar player, but a great songwriter, too. One of the people who made me want to become a musician. Those were great times for music in Clevo..

13. You're very lucky.
Were you yourself in any of the bands from that scene?

14. None of any consequence...
I was in a few when I lived in Athens, GA in the late 80's and in Spokane in the early 90's.

I got to know the guys in The Dead Boys fairly well because of Rocket; by the time I was seriously into music I had already left town. I'm just now getting back into a DIY kinda mood w/ my own stuff; it's nice to be making music again..

10. No, the ode to my penis is called "Have You Seen Her?"
'cuz I gave "li'l koolzip" a female name: "Helen."

I used to think I had an "outie" until I tried normalizing relations with the opposite camp.
