The first time ever I saw your face.... |
|
Just heard Roberta on the radio.
The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave To the night and the empty skies my love To the night and the empty skies
The first time ever I kissed your mouth I felt the earth turn in my hand Like the trembling heart of a captive bird That was there at my command my love That was there at my command
The first time ever I lay with you And felt your heart beat close to mine I thought our joy would fill the earth And would last 'till the end of time my love And would last 'till the end of time
The first time ever I saw your face I thought the sun rose in your eyes And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave To the night and the empty skies my love To the night and the empty skies

That brought back some fond memories. RF was always one of my favorites, and that song is the best.

2. Chad Mitchell Trio did that song back in the early 60s |
|
Their version is worth hunting down and listening to. It is on their Reflections album.
Yeah, I know... Chad Who? 60's folk/coffee house kinda group, well worth listening to. They had some good political commentary/satire which is still relevant.

3. Swede: This song has very special meaning to me..... |
|
When my cousin (we were more like sisters), died two years ago from mouth cancer, that's the song she left to be played at her memorial for her two adult children. She wanted her children to remember how she felt from the moment they were born. It's a romantic love song woman to man but she made it her own as Mother to her children. It was quite moving and beautiful.
