3. The book was better (White Oleander)
the movie left one of the foster homes she lived in out of the story entirely, if I remember correctly.

5. Most of Oprah's book picks are this way...because she's rich, has few prob

lems...my sister's theory is that Oprah has a bazillion dollars, has a long term relationship, has great friends, etc. So she reads books that are dour and sad because they remind her that life can suck.

But if I want to be depressed, I don't need to watch a movie. As soon as I find out a movie/book is/was an Oprah pick, that's when I know to steer clear unless I feel like feeling like shit.

And I like her!

6. Well, I believe Oprah did have a sad, depressing life before
she worked hard, worked herself up the ladder and into the rich, powerful, intelligent, giving human being she is now.

And I'm not really that big of a fan but I respect her for the things she has accomplished.

7. I am a HUGE fan of hers...just not the club, LOL.
And you're right about her 'former' life, I'll point that out to the sis (should have thought about that before)...

But for real, most of her book picks are very dark. Painfully so, at times.
