3. "It's got a good beat and you can dance to it. I give it an 88."
I like almost anything with a good beat - new, oldie, disco, techno, whatever. Depends on where I am and what the mood is.

18. I know, but I don't have enough room to put both
I like acid house alot. But if I broke down house by genre, it would take up the entire poll.

11. They're all good. Depends on your culture and the mood you're in
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 03:50 PM by downstairsparts
In my own lifetime and culture, in the fifties it would have been Little Richard and boogie-woogie sounds, then into the 60's into the 70's James Brown, and then in the gay dance clubs that were everywhere a mix of many forms--soul, funk, reggae, Motown, along with early electronic sounds--and then hip-hop after disco into early Chicago house and Detroit techno. Hip-hop gymnastic dancing was revolutionary. When techo began in the 80s, I thought, oh, we're back to Detroit, but it definitely wasn't Motown. I always associated styles of music and dances with the cities they come from.

I have my own personal favorites for the best kind of dance music (a lot depends on the song), but I've been through so many rhythms, sounds and dance moves through the decades, I can't even say anymore if any particular one moves me the most. I still listen and move around to them all, the same fun and joy, but nothing is more fun and joyful than little kids out there dancing in the streets the way we used to, the record-store big bassy speakers out in front, just like Martha & the Vandellas and later the Mamas & Paps sang about. Little kids are always the best dancers.

22. Tech-House.
the synth-sides and futurism of techno + the funkiness of house + pop sensibility.
