I didn't realize maple syrup turns into alcohol |

I never really thought about it, makes since though. Made pancakes this morning, went and got the maple syrup and luckily before I poured on the syrup I took a wiff of the jar. Smelled like rubbing alcohol, I chucked the bottle and called my neighbor across the street to see if he had any syrup, luckily he did. Breakfast/science experiment

2. Next time you find yourself without syrup - |

make your own. It's easy.
Two cups of sugar, one cup of water. Bring to a boil, and boil a few minutes, stirring constantly, until it starts to thicken. Add a teaspoon of mapleine maple flavoring or, if you don't have that, add a teaspoon of cinnamon.
The syrup will thicken a little more on standing. It will not be as thick as commercial syrup, but it tastes so much better and is really good warm. The cinnamon syrup is especially good on French toast.
