okay, here's the story:
I used to :smoke: and I was very happy :toast: . I quit 4 days ago and I am  . I have been eating LIKE CRAZY and I am :hurts: , which sucks but is common when a smoker stops smoking. (I've eaten about 5 lbs of licorice and 3 boxes of crackers and more Hot Tamalis than I can count) I have spent I don't know how many hours here at DU since I quit...it's the only thing that really keeps my mind occuppied:think: , so I and my hubbie and my lungs thank each and everyone of you out there in DU  !!!!
I have a long way to go and I don't expect any :nopity: from anyone or anything but it is HARD!!!!!!! I would love to open a bottle of wine and sit outside a while (I'm in FL so that would be reasonable around here) but I'm afraid to drink just yet. I wouldn't smoke but the urge might grow and that would be very very very bad to say the least.
So I will stay in tonight, cook dinner, hang out in DU, work on my Quit Smoking Blog (which is very depressing) and tomorrow will be day 5.

One day I will be a REAL NON SMOKER. But not one that complains about smokers...I promise!
Anyway, that's my sad and boring tale. Thank you for your time and patience.:nuke:

5. I'm using the patch & it's not really as bad
as my sad story sounds. But it's more than a tiny bit difficult.
Good luck to you too.
First morning is the hardest...just keep moving!

4. Cold Turkey, or did you scale down?
I opted to scale down slowly, and haven't had a craving for a cigarette since. Being a non-smoker is fun! No more guilt about where all that money goes.

7. It is kind of fun. I'm proud of myself so far and it's like venturing
into a whole new world.
You have NO cravings?! How great. How long has it been since your last smoke?

11. I honestly don't remember...
I opted to scale down. So for almost a year I'd allow myself one or two a day. Then it was once every few days if the craving hit. Eventually I had no cravings at all. Not even when drunk! Good luck, and if you need encouragement, just remember that tobacco companies give millions to Republicans every year.

8. Best of luck to you
Stick with it!

I've been trying to quit for a while.

Let me know what method you are using to quit. Cold Turkey? The Patch?

10. patch. Well, patch and licorice and gum and whatever else isn't too big
or heavy or nailed down to eat.

The patch is expensive. I hate paying for it, but I doubt I could get even this far without it.
